Ịn|fix [lat. infigere, infixum = hineinstechen, hineinschlagen, innen anheften], das; -es, -e: in der chem. Nomenklatur eine unselbstständige, bei der Namensbildung als Einschub wirksame Buchstabenfolge oder Zahl, z. B. -ato-, -ido-, -ino-, -o-, -yl-, -ylen-. In der Nomenklatur der Polymeren sind -co-, -alt-, -stat- usw. Strukturinfixe.

[lateinisch »das (Hinein)geheftete«] das, -es/-e, Sprachwissenschaft: Bildungssilbe, die in den Wortstamm eingefügt wird (z. B. »n« in lateinisch »vinco«, »ich siege«, im Unterschied zu lateinisch »vici«, »ich habe gesiegt«). Infixe sind gebundene Morpheme.
